After a dissapointing sail at weymouth yesterday i gave Cold Knapp ago today, XC weather was showing 17knts when i left but when i got there was more like 27knts.The tide was still high with a large shore break, met an old(ish) guy that was gonna go out,i went off for some food.Came back bought 1.30pm & the tide had dropped, i went for a flat 5.0 & then realised my 76lt board was still in the garage(Didnt take it to weymouth & forgot to bung it in today) ,Doh... so had to use 86lt Goya.
The 5.0 was fine in the bay but once out a bit there was a distinct wind line where it went up 10knts & the sea state was very rough.5.0 was a real handfull but carried on cus close in it was just right. After an hour or so though the whole bay was well windy so went in for 4.2m. This was fine in the bay but once again overpowered outside, the 3.8 would have been plenty.
Having never sailed here i had no ideal what best state of tide would be, but the more it went out the better it got, now with some swell running into the bay making some waves, which was good.
Didnt get much jumping in today but the super fast planning gybes felt good. and always good to sail in super strong winds....
